Hurricane Katrina: Letter from President and CEO Truman Hunt
On behalf of Nu Skin Enterprises, our hearts go out to those who have been affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, including several of our U.S. distributors who have lost their homes and property.
As part of our mission to be a force for good throughout the world, we are reaching out to help the hurricane victims – including our own distributors – through the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation, the company's registered non-profit organization, and the Nourish the Children initiative.
The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation
The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation has already issued an initial grant to the American Red Cross to support the immediate relief efforts in the affected region. In addition, the foundation has set up a special Hurricane Katrina relief fund to help our local distributors in the area and to address the long-term infrastructure needs of the area. To maximize the contributions, the foundation is matching all donations from each of its regional markets through the end of September 2005. The Nourish the Children Initiative
Already, Nourish the Children has coordinated with its charitable partner; Feed the Children in shipping 216,000 meals to refugees from some of the most devastated areas in Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia. As the relief efforts continue, each of Feed the Children's truck shipments will include at least 9,000 VitaMeal donations. Nu Skin Enterprises has donated an additional 27,000 VitaMeals that will be transported by Feed the Children to the Gulf Coast region.
